I have been teaching art at Sacred Hearts since 2019. I started teaching art in 2001 at an elementary school in Georgia. After my oldest son was born in 2007, I decided to stay home for several years, during this time we moved to Boston and then to Sun Prairie. My husband and I are both from Michigan. That is where I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University, followed by an Art Teaching Certificate from Calvin College and then while teaching in Georgia I earned a Master’s Degree of Education in Art Education from the University of North Georgia.
I am also a parent here at Sacred Hearts. My boys love Sacred Hearts and we have been very impressed with their education. We especially like the Sacred Hearts community.
Right now most of my free time is spent going to my kids’ sporting events. Luckily, my husband and I both enjoy this very much. I also love the beach, going on walks, and spending time with family and friends. I have dabbled in almost every art medium from weaving to oil painting to jewelry making, but currently I especially enjoy acrylic painting and ceramics.
As an art teacher I believe the artistic process is just as valuable as the end product. I am hoping students will walk away with new skills that they can incorporate into their future projects. Every year I am impressed with the quality of work the students are able to create. The goal is for everyone to do their personal best.
